Munchies and Zombies

So, I got a recent invite to a blogger event sponsored by Kris Cain a.k.a. "Little Tech Girl." I'd met Kris at a previous blogger event and when I got an invite to this event for the launch of Plants vs. Zombies 2 for Android and kids were invited, I knew I'd have to go there with a couple of my little guys.

Kris put out a nice spread at the Bronzeville Community Clubhouse with chicken wings, salads and cupcakes (you know the foodie in me was also interested in the munchies), but the highlight was the friendly zombie who came out to meet everyone.

Plants vs. Zombies is one of only three games I've played on my iPad and it's a fun way to pass the time as I sit in the car waiting for a kid to get done at soccer practice or to finish up at a school club. I was pleasantly surprised by this one because my teenagers play a few games on their XBOX live that involve zombies and they are a little too graphic for me.

Plants vs. Zombies is a tame little game where sunflowers and other plants battle the zombies. There's no blood or gore and my youngest boy can sit and play it and I don't have to worry about anything inappropriate on display. And I love it myself. It starts out easy and works its way up without these headache inducing 3D graphics. It's just a little simpler and is reminiscent of a video game of the 80's, at least it is in my mind.

The kids left with plush squash characters form the game, which they were thrilled with. Kris was a great hostess and it was a fun afternoon with my boys and zombie. :)
