My Tomatoes' Journey: The First Fruit! - Part 14
I've been a little delinquent in providing updates on my tomatoes. Over the last week or two, my tomatoes started turning red, and I was able to pick my first fruit! What a glorious day that was. I prepared over six months for this day since The Beginning, and I certainly enjoyed every bite. I made a grilled cheese and tomato sandwich with it.
Here are a few other pictures of different varieties that I planted this year:
My tomatoes have not gone unscathed though. Birds started pecking away at my beautifully ripening fruit! Buggers. If it continues, I may lay some netting over my plants.
After a rocky beginning and a few near misses, I'm quite shocked that my tomatoes have turned out as good as they have this year. All the hard work payed off. I feel a little bit like I'm having pregnancy amnesia though. I forget about the emotion and tears [not really tears] I went through to grow these little "babies". But after I take a look at the first piece of fruit that I grew and cared for, I forget all the pain and suffering. I'll certainly do it all again next year. :)
Stay tuned for my next tomato post where I will explain how you can save your seeds from this year for next year.
